Driving up Highway 50 through Nevada, said to be the loneliest road in America, sure would make a body nervous. Unless, of course, you’re Agnes Barton, who welcomes the challenge and the chance to check out a real ghost town. But before she even arrives in Silver, Nevada, a mystery has unfolded in the form of a lost little girl, Rebecca, who has become separated from her family who are searching for the elusive Leister’s gold. The real kicker is that Agnes saw it all in a dream, but when they arrive at the Goldberg Hotel & Saloon, she realizes so many things about her dream are real, like the details of the inside of the hotel. It isn’t long before she learns that the hotel is haunted by various spirits from the past, further making for an interesting vacation.
Agnes is determined to find the missing family, insisting that it simply wasn’t just a dream as she learns that a family with a young daughter had indeed disappeared in the middle of the night just before they had arrived. Will Agnes and Eleanor find the missing family before they perish from the elements, or will the knife-wielding spirit called “The Cutter,” shorten their chances?
Ghostly Hijinks An Agnes Barton Paranormal Mystery Book 2 eBook Madison Johns
The second in the series since the author revamped it and added a ghost to the duo of Agnes and El. I have enjoyed the revamped series. Like many of this genre these are light reads and you must be ready to accept some loose science and in this case a little bit of a loose timeline and part of the mystery involves a very old body.If you are a fan of the cozy genre you should be fine with this series. It should be noted that the romance part of the cozy genre is centered around Agnes and El and their boyfriends. Sexually active seniors does seem to upset some people and but it should also be noted the sex is implied and not described.

Ghostly Hijinks An Agnes Barton Paranormal Mystery Book 2 eBook Madison Johns Reviews
I really didn't like this book. I quit reading it about 2/3 of the way through because the editing was so poor and the story so lame. I have read many of Madison Johns' books and will give her one more chance before I quit. I am really good at suspending disbelief, but the main characters, Agnes, Eleanor and their two boyfriends are getting so far out they're no fun. They're just lame. None of her books is literature, but they are usually an easy pleasant read.
The mystery in this is good, but I wish the author would proofread or have several people proofread her books. I don't think I will purchase any more books by this author because of poor writing. My husband thinks she must be speaking into a program and it is writing this book and then is not proofread. Also, when a person (or ghost in this book) is startled, they "shuddered" not "shuttered". Also, when you want to furnish books to a library it is "literature" not "ligature".
I only tried this book because I'd read another "ghostly" book (Trouble in Mudbug by Jana DeLeon) and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. There was nothing enjoyable about this one. The writing was horrible. Difficult to figure out whether it was supposed to be written in the first or third person ("...we stopped at the International Cafe & Saloon where they were promised they'd find a hearty breakfast.") The characters and story line were uninteresting. Total waste of my time.
An entertaining and fun little mystery. Ever since a car accident Agnes has been able to see and communicate with ghosts. Her sidekick, Eleanor would prefer not to but doesn't always have a choice in the matter. Deciding to take a vacation, they visit a ghost town. Guess what it's haunted. The trouble these two get themselves into is often hilarious.
A real mystery unfolds as they sight see around town. If you like ghosts and mystery, you will like this. It is light and simply a fun read. This is the second book in the paranormal series and I liked it. Aggie and Eleanor are full of fun.
I enjoyed reading Ghostly Hijinks another of Madison Johns, Agnes Barton Cozy mysteries.
It was a quick read and held my interest all the way to the end. She and Eleanor are headed on a trip to
Nevada to the Old West to a real ghost town. The fun and investigating powers of our two sleuths,
Agnes and Eleanor along with a ghost named Caroline is just beginning. Of course, Mr. Wilson, Eleanor's
fiancé along with Andrew, Agnes's fiancé are along for the trip and all the mischief that the
two can get into. I have read all of Madison Johns books and have enjoyed all.
Madison Johns, when I first met your quirky sleuths, it felt as if they had yet to develop their own personna. I am so glad I kept reading as I have had the pleasure of watching them and other steady characters evolve into their own characters.
Somehow, I ended p reading slightly out of order, but that has not dampened the story lines at all. Ghostly Hijinks is cleverly executed with great twists and turns. Eleanor's beloved Mr Wilson's shoot out is priceless, and the collection of spirits is over the top!
Agnes really gets herself in some great situations with her spirit acquaintances in this book! Thoroughly enjoyed it.
This one is going to have you on the edge of your seat turning the pages and slap your thigh with laughter. The ladies and their gents go out west to a real haunted town, there are real people there, with a hotel. On the way there, Oh yeah, Caroline is with them, you know the ghost that attached herself to Agnes. Agnes has this dream of a little girl who is looking for her parents. she is in this shack that is on this mound in the dessert. She takes the child to the sheriff in the town and lets him know about it. When she wakes up she sees the mound and ask to stop the car. There is the shack, upon inspection it is empty. She continues to the town and they check into the hotel. People there is more to this hotel and the people there than you could shake a stick at. There are tunnels under the hotel and the surrounding areas that they take the tourists on, but only some of them. There a story of old gold from an old robbery and there is a missing family with a little girl that is missing. The best part is in the hotel. There are ghosts. Especially the one in the attic and the one in the library who welds a knife. Agnes and Eleanor find them selves in danger in the tunnels.
The second in the series since the author revamped it and added a ghost to the duo of Agnes and El. I have enjoyed the revamped series. Like many of this genre these are light reads and you must be ready to accept some loose science and in this case a little bit of a loose timeline and part of the mystery involves a very old body.
